Fire Damages Building in Kanawha County

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) A late night fire caused heavy damage at a building in St. Albans.

The fire started at a building on the 5900 block of MacCorkle Avenue just before midnight on Monday.

The proximity of the building to the road caused the westbound lanes of MacCorkle Avenue to close for several hours as emergency vehicles parked in the road to battle the blaze. The road is now open.

Dispatchers tell WSAZ.com no one was inside the building and there are no injuries.

Firefighters were worried the fire could spread to The Rustic Motel next-door but they were able to contain the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
