UPDATE: Charges Unlikely in Deadly Greenup Co., Ky. Crash

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Investigators said the driver who caused a deadly crash in Greenup County, Kentucky, will likely not face charges.

Neighbors described the busy scene of the crash, on Ky. 207 near the Industrial Parkway overpass. One said he saw flashing lights and several helicopters on scene to transport the crash victims.

Investigators said Bobby R. Arthur, 78, of Greenup crossed the center line and slammed into an oncoming truck driven by Sherry Lynn Baldridge.

Deputies said Arthur was hurt in the crash, along with Baldridge and two children.

The crash also killed Harold Stacy, 72. Stacy was a passenger in Baldridge's car.

A family member told WSAZ.com, one of the children has a broken jaw and the woman has a collapsed lung.

"I don't believe anything was intentional," Greenup County Deputy Sheriff Ryan Houston said. "No charges are expected to be filed in this. I believe it was just a horrible, horrible accident where several people got hurt."

Deputies said they had to call for help from surrounding area agencies for Medivac helicopter service and ambulances.

A family member also told WSAZ.com the children are in stable condition, but several surgeries are scheduled.

Investigators said at this point in the investigation, it appears Arthur had not been driver or using drugs before the crash.

Sheriff's officials said that stretch of road is known to be dark, but not curvy and isn't a frequent spot for crashes.

A quick check of WSAZ.com archives show at least one fatal crash near the same area earlier this year.

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) – A 72-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Greenup County Sunday night.

The accident happened on KY 207 just past the intersection with KY 503 about 8:30 p.m.

The Sheriff’s Office says that the crash happened when Bobby Arthur, 78, of Greenup, crossed the center line and hit a truck driven by Sherry Baldridge, 51, of Greenup.

There were three passengers in Baldridge’s vehicle, including Harold Stacy, of Greenup, who was killed. The other two passengers were children.

Three helicopters and several ambulances were brought in to take to the injured to area hospitals. There is no word on the condition of those hurt.

GREENUP COUNTY, Ky (WSAZ) -- All lanes of Route 207 are back open following a crash, Sunday night.

It happened about 8:30 p.m. near the Pleasant Valley area entrance.

911 dispatchers are not releasing how many people were injured, but say two vehicles were involved and several helicopters were dispatched to the scene.

ORIGINAL STORY 9/7/14 @ 8:45 p.m.
GREENUP COUNTY, Ky (WSAZ) -- State Route 207 is closed by the Pleasant Valley area entrance due to an accident.

911 dispatchers say the two-vehicle accident happened just before 8:30 p.m., Sunday.

Dispatchers say injuries have been reported and several helicopters are en route.

No word yet how long the road will be closed.

WSAZ has a reporter headed to the scene.
