Record Number of Female Cadets Graduate from WVSP Academy

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Dozens of new state troopers will soon be serving communities across the state.

They just finished 28 weeks of training at the West Virginia Police Academy. The class graduation was held Friday at West Virginia State University.

The 65th Cadet Class will bring new troopers to dozens of detachments across the state.

43 graduated from Friday's class. The class had a record number of female graduates. Six females received their badge on Friday.

"We really need to make it clear, we did not lower our standards. Our standards we've kept the same, but these are the best and brightest out there," Lt. Michael Baylous, with West Virginia State Police said. "They should be honored for their achievements out there. They've met and exceeded the standards we set. We're really happy to have them."

List of Graduates:
Trooper Ethan G. Beard from Lewisburg, West Virginia, and a graduate of West Virginia University, will be assigned to the Summersville Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Eric W. Boothe from Beaver, West Virginia, will be assigned to the Welch Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Benjamin J. Borsman from Oak Hill, West Virginia, and a graduate of Berea College, will be assigned to the Jesse Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Steven J. Borsman from Fayetteville, West Virginia, and a graduate of Berea College, will be assigned to the Huntington Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Seth P. Bowling from Freeburn, Kentucky, and a graduate of the University of Pikeville, will be assigned to the Logan Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Michael D. Brooks from Welch, West Virginia, will be assigned to the Jesse Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Marvell T. Bynum Sr. from Snow Hill, North Carolina, will be assigned to the Lewisburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Susan N. Clagg from Milton, West Virginia, and a graduate of Marshall University, will be assigned to the Martinsburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Austin H. Clark from Weston, West Virginia, will be assigned to the Philippi Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Daniel P. Curry Jr. from Milton, West Virginia, will be assigned to the Wayne Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Austin T. Farmer from Omar, West Virginia, and a graduate of Southern West Virginia Community College, will be assigned to the Huntington Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Keith A. Filer from Bluefield, West Virginia, and a graduate of American Public University, will be assigned to the Beckley Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Robert R. Freeman from Indianapolis, Indiana, and a graduate of Indianapolis University, will be assigned to the Winfield Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Evan C. Greathouse from Reedy, West Virginia, will be assigned to the Clay Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Christine M. Griffith from West Liberty, West Virginia, and a graduate of West Virginia University, will be assigned to the Fairmont Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Levi S. Hall from Moundsville, West Virginia, and a graduate of West Liberty University, will be assigned to the Kingwood Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Sterling P. Hall from Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, a graduate of American Military University, and a veteran of the WV Air National Guard, will be assigned to the Moorefield Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Tyler J. Hannon from Gallipolis, Ohio, will be assigned to the Logan Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Zachary W. Hartley from Ripley, West Virginia, and a veteran of the U.S. Army, will be assigned to the Spencer Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper William C. Heaster from Crawley, West Virginia, and a graduate of New River Community College, will be assigned to the Webster Springs Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Jason O. Hensley from Sedro-Woolley, Washington, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, will be assigned to the Sutton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Randall D. Holden II from Salem, West Virginia, and a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan, will be assigned to the Madison Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Zachary S. Holden from Salem, West Virginia, and a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan, will be assigned to the Logan Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Tiffani Leigh Huffman from Gassaway, West Virginia, and a graduate of Glenville State, will be assigned to the Ripley Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Darrell Ray Kincaid II from Ansted, West Virginia, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, will be assigned to the Princeton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Joshua Ryan Kincaid from Oak Hill, West Virginia, and a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserves, will be assigned to the Beckley Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Corey A. Lewis from Milton, West Virginia, and a graduate of Marshall University, will be assigned to the Hamlin Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Freddie E. Little III from West Palm Beach, Florida, and a graduate of West Virginia University, will be assigned to the Morgantown Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Trooper Cody C. Mayle from Grafton, West Virginia, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, will be assigned to the Keyser Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.
