UPDATE: Semi Crash Didn't Cause Damage to I-77 Bridge in Charleston

UPDATE 7/31/15 @ 2:40 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The fiery crash on Interstate 77 where a tractor trailer caught fire in Charleston Thursday night didn't damage the bridge.

Crews with the West Virginia Division of Highways visited the site Friday and say it appears to be surface damage only. The structure was not damaged.

Officials say the semi truck had a blown out tire and when it came around the curve on the interstate, it flipped over and slid about 500 feet against a concrete barrier. The driver was taken to the hospital.

Crews worked for several hours to clear the debris and remove the truck from the interstate. During this time, traffic was backed up for miles.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- All lanes have reopened after crews cleaned up debris from a tractor trailer fire on I-77 South.

Officials say the semi truck had a blown out tire and when it came around the curve on the interstate, it flipped over and slid about 500 feet against a concrete barrier.

Crews worked for hours to clear the debris and remove the truck from the interstate.

911 Dispatchers say the driver of the tractor trailer was transported to CAMC General with unknown injuries.

UPDATE 7/30/15 @ 11:45 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Crews are still on scene cleaning up debris from a tractor trailer fire on I-77 South.

911 Dispatchers say that at this time I-64 East at the 59MM is back open.

I-77 South bound lanes remain closed for clean-up.

Officials say the semi truck had a blown out tire and when it came around the curve on the interstate, it flipped over and slid about 500 feet against a concrete barrier.

The truck then caught fire.

A passerby jumped out and helped the driver to safety before the flames got out of control.

911 Dispatchers say the driver of the tractor trailer that is on fire was transported to CAMC General with unknown injuries.

Much of the debris from the cab of the truck was actually burned to the concrete.

Crews just finished hauling off the contents of the trailer and flipped it upright.

Officials expect the road to be open around 12:30 a.m.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Emergency crews are still on the scene of a tractor trailer roll over and fire along I-77 South.

911 Dispatchers say the driver of the tractor trailer that is on fire was transported to CAMC General with unknown injuries.

Another patient is still being assessed by medics on scene.

Both I-77 north and south bound lanes remain closed at this time.

At this time the cause of the accident is unknown.

WSAZ has a crew at the scene.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Emergency crews are on the scene of a reported tractor trailer fire along I-77 south.

Both I-77 north and south bound lanes near MM100 are closed at this time.

Metro 911 Dispatchers say there are injuries reported but they are not sure how many at this time.

No other information is being released at this time. WSAZ has a crew headed to the scene.
