Herd women’s hoops adds Ilderton to staff
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Marshall Athletics announced Monday that 2026 alumnus and Logan native Peyton Ilderton is now part of the women’s basketball staff.
Ilderton helped lead the Herd to the WNIT Championship in April. Ilderton will be the program’s Assistant Director of Basketball Operations.
“Peyton has been an incredible representative of Marshall Women’s Basketball throughout her four years as a student athlete,” head coach Juli Fulks said. “She understands our culture, our standards and what it means to wear the Marshall uniform.”
Ilderton led Logan High School to the Class AAA State Championship in 2022, the first state title in program history.
She joined Marshall as a walk-on for the 2022-2023 season, earning a scholarship from then-head coach Tony Kemper midway through her freshman season.
Ilderton was in the rotation for the 2023-2024 season, in which Marshall won the Sun Belt Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament under then-head coach Kim Caldwell.
She played her final two years for Fulks, where she was the primary point guard. Ilderton graduated with a B.A. in Communication Studies, and earned CSC Academic All-District honors.
Ilderton made 82 3-pt. baskets in the 25-26 season, the fourth most in a single season in program history. She was also named a Kay Yow Servant Award Leader, an honor given to just 62 athletes across the country.
