Voters head to the polls | 2024 Primary Day in Ohio
OHIO (WSAZ) - Voters are heading to the polls on Tuesday, March 19 for the Ohio state and presidential primaries.
Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and early voting goes on until this Sunday at 5 p.m.
With the presidential nominations all but secured with Biden and Trump as the presumptive nominees, the most high-profile election in Ohio’s primary on Tuesday is the Republican primary for U.S. Senate.
There are three Republicans vying for the chance to unseat Sen. Sherrod Brown in the general election: Sen. Matt Dolan, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LeRose, and Businessman Bernie Moreno.
Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown, first elected in 2006 and uncontested in his primary in 2024, is among one of the most vulnerable members in the Senate.
Next, is the contest to fill retiring U.S. Congressman Brad Wenstrup’s seat in Ohio’s Second Congressional District.
A dozen candidates are vying to fill the seat, with 11 Republicans facing off in the primary and one candidate running in the democratic primary.
You need to bring a photo ID when voting in person. Acceptable forms are a valid Ohio driver’s license, a U.S. passport, or a military ID. You may no longer use bank statements or utility bills.
Other acceptable forms of ID are a state of Ohio ID card, an interim ID form issued by the Ohio BMV, a U.S. passport card, an Ohio National Guard ID card, and a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs ID card.
If you do not have any of the approved forms of identification, you are allowed to cast a provisional ballot. To have your vote counted, you must return to the BOE within four days of the election to provide a photo ID.
Absentee ballots may be returned by mail or personally delivered to your county board of elections. If not returned by mail, absentee ballots must be received by your board of elections by 7:30 p.m.
The general election will occur on Nov. 5, 2024.
