Kris Warner wins GOP Secretary of State Primary

W.Va. (WSAZ) - As Secretary of State Mac Warner wraps up his second four-year term since first being elected in 2016 and jumps into the GOP race for governor of West Virginia, his brother is hoping to hold the position.
The Associated Press has called the West Virginia Secretary of State GOP Primary for Economic Development Authority Kris Warner.
Warner defeated Doug Skaff, a former Democratic House of Delegates member turned Republican, former state legislator Ken Reed, and Putnam County Clerk Brian Wood.
Warner will face Democrat Thornton Cooper who was unopposed in the Tuesday primary in the general election in November.
The Secretary of State is the state’s chief elections officer and business registrar, keeper of executive branch documents, appointments, and other official records.
The office also oversees charities and nonprofits, administers the Uniform Commercial Code, and manages legislative and emergency rules.
