New Clendenin Elementary construction in final stages

CLENDENIN, W.Va. (WSAZ) - During the flood of June 2016, the Clendenin Elementary School was washed away. Demolition began in August of 2021 with the plans for building a new school in mind.

After three years, the new elementary school is in its final stages.

The classrooms in this new building are not designed like typical classrooms but as exploratorium spaces for each grade level. Each area has a teacher workspace in the middle with classroom pods surrounding the teachers which promotes hands-on and project-based learning.

A dental exam room is another addition and will be able to provide students with dental health care right on campus.

The new school is set to open in the fall of 2024.
