CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) - A high school coach has been arrested and charged with 1st degree sexual abuse. The charge is listed on the Carter County Detention Center website.

Kentucky State Police arrested Estepp on March 19.

The investigation began in 2022 and was initiated after law enforcement received information regarding Estepp’s interactions with a juvenile.

Estepp, 28, is the varsity boys and girls track and field coach at Paul Blazer High School, according to Ashland Independent Schools Superintendent and a website associated with the school’s athletic programs.

However, KSP says the matters under investigation are connected to events that transpired prior to his current employment.

Ashland Independent Schools Superintendent Sean Howard says they are not commenting on the arrest at this time, saying this is a personnel matter.

Estepp’s X account lists him as a special education teacher, assistant football coach, and track coach at Ashland Blazer High School.

According to the jail website, Estepp is also charged with “procuring or promoting the use of minors by electronic means.”

Estepp was transferred from the Boyd County Detention Center to the Carter County Detention Center Thursday and is being held on a $50,000 cash bond, according to a deputy clerk for the Carter County Circuit Clerk.

The deputy clerk says he was transferred there because it’s a Carter County charge.

His arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26 at 1 p.m.

The deputy clerk says Estepp’s indictment is sealed, so more details on the case are not immediately available.
