WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The first ‘Almost Heaven’ swing in Wayne County is now officially open to visitors.

Beech Fork Lake formally announced the opening of the swing earlier this week on Facebook.

The swing, located at Beech Fork Lake along the Rock Hollow trailhead, was created in partnership with West Virginia Tourism, allowing visitors a place to take scenic photos and enjoy the views from the lookout point.

In order to access the new swing, hikers can park at the Beech Fork Lake Visitor Center parking lot, then walk a short distance back along the road to the Rock Hollow trailhead.

The trail forms a loop with a total distance of 0.7 miles. Starting counterclockwise, the swing is located approximately .15 miles from the trailhead, according to directions provided by the Beech Fork Facebook page.

Beech Fork’s post notes that the ascent to the swing can be rather steep for some individuals but has made plans to install a rope handrail in the near future.

Parking can be found at the Beech Fork Lake Visitor Center, located at 3784 Beech Fork Road, Lavalette, WV 25535.

The ‘Almost Heaven’ swing joins nearly sixty others located across the state.
