MINGO COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A project to get food to families has now been given the funding to do so.

U.S. Senator Jim Justice stopped by Facing Hunger Foodbank to award them more than $1.1 million in congressional spending dollars to renovate a food distribution center in Mingo County.

CEO Cyndi Kirkhart says the proximity of the distribution center will make a difference in so many families’ lives as the non-profit make deliveries to Mingo County six to eight times a month.

Senator Justice says he hopes more can be done to help families from going hungry.

Facing Hunger Foodbank serves 12 counties across West Virginia.
