Bystanders help rescue kitten stuck in car engine

BOSTON (WHDH) - One four-legged friend was saved by three women in Massachusetts.

The kitten was hiding inside a car in Boston, but with a little encouragement, the cat came out.

The sound of a tiny kitten stopped three women on their way back to work.

“We knew exactly where the meowing was coming from,” one of the women said.

Turns out the meowing was coming from inside a car where the little cat was hiding near the engine.

The owner of the vehicle and a few others spent nearly 10 minutes trying to remove parts of the vehicle to get the kitten out safely, with everyone pitching in however they could.

“It was so crazy and it was cool to see everyone kind of came together. I had my lunch with me, so I started like taking out the pieces of chicken, seeing if it would maybe like lure the cat out,” another bystander said.

After a few tense moments, the kitten was freed.

“It was heartbreaking to hear that meow. Like for me, I have a kitten at home, and I know Tiara has cats, so it was just like I heard my cat and I was like, ‘Oh my god, we need to get this kitten out of here,’” one of the women said.

The three women nicknamed the cat Infinity after the car he was found in.

Boston Animal Control came to take the kitten and chose to shorten the name to Finn.

“I love it. I think it gives a great story where everyone just kind of came together. I mean even people just walking across the street came by and were like, ‘Wait, there’s a cat? What’s going on?’ It was just the best story, and I think it gives a cool backstory too,” one of the women said.

Animal Control said the kitten appears to be fine but will get a full medical exam.
