PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Crews have officially started work on a $4.7 million paving project on U.S. 35 in Putnam County, according to WVDOT.
WVDOT says the paving project is to smooth out the 1.2-mile section between Hurricane Creek Road and the Five and Twenty Mile Bridge.
Phase 1 begins Monday, meaning the northbound slow lane and shoulder will be closed, but one northbound lane will remain open. Exits will also remain open throughout construction.
The speed limit in the work zone will also be 50 mph.
WVDOT says Phase 1 is expected to end in December.
They say crews plan to eventually repave all northbound and southbound lanes in this area.
