Kaden Gaylord-Day

Kaden Gaylord-Day is an award-winning sports journalist and Lexington native. He joins WKYT in the fall of 2025 after spending three years in Bowling Green, Kentucky, at WKYT’s sister station, WBKO.

Kaden began his sports journalism career at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School when he became the Sports Editor for the PLDLamplighter, Dunbar’s student-run media production club. He also played football all four years and did theatre for two years to get over his performance fear.

He then went to Western Kentucky University and graduated with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. At WKU, he worked for student-run Newspaper, TV station, and radio station.

After graduating from college, Kaden became the Sports Reporter and Anchor at WBKO. During his time there, he covered all sports at all levels, including multiple state championship runs, NCAA Tournament berths, bowl games, Little League World Series and more.

His love for the city of Lexington and the Kentucky Wildcats is a big reason why Kaden is excited to return home. He also loves to mentor and give advice to anyone who wants to become a sports journalist. It’s been his dream to work for his hometown station and he is excited to provide the best coverage possible of all things central Kentucky.

In his free time, he likes to play in adult flag football and kickball leagues. He also enjoys watching sports, playing his PlayStation, and watching reality TV whenever he can.
