UPDATE | AEP worker dies in rollover crash in Lincoln County; name released

An AEP worker died Wednesday morning in an accident when his truck fell off the side of a driveway that had slipped.
Appalachian Power spokesman Phil Moye identified the victim as 47-year-old Christopher Canterbury. Moye says Canterbury joined the company in 1998 and was based in Logan.
West Virginia State Police say the accident happened around 8:45 a.m. in the Harts area of Lincoln County as the worker was out checking meters.
It's an accident Kathy Sinett feared would eventually happen.
"I was afraid somebody would go over it," she said.
Wednesday morning, she heard a loud crash outside her home.
"I heard a thump two or three times," she said. "I thought a train had wrecked."
When she stepped outside, she saw her fear had been realized.
"When I came out, he was already in the road," Sinett said.
State Police say it looks like the tire of the AEP worker's truck went over the side of the driveway that had slipped. The truck then flipped down the embankment onto state Route 10.
"The cab of the truck was totally caved in," neighbor Rachel Farley said.
The AEP worker was dead when emergency responders arrived.
"I'm so sorry that this happened," Sinett said.
Sinett says the slip happened back in November. Since then she says she's made numerous attempts to reach out to various agencies to get help fixing the road.
"All I got was 'We can't help you', or 'there are no funds,' " she said. "I tried to get people to help me, but nobody would help."
Sinett's husband died unexpectedly in October, and she says she has no income to pay for the repairs herself.
"I don't have the money to fix it," she said.
Sinett says she put up makeshift barriers to try to stop people from crossing, but those kept getting moved.
"I've tried blocking it off several times, and it keeps getting moved or pushed over the hill," she said.
She wants the victim's family to know how badly she wishes this had been prevented.
"There wasn't anything I could do," she said. "I just feel so sorry for them."
There's one other home along that driveway, which has two entrances from Route 10
Sinett says since the slip occurred, she has seen several utilities workers successfully get across it.
The victim's name has not been released.
An AEP worker died Wednesday morning after his truck slipped over the side of a driveway and rolled onto state Route 10, West Virginia State Police troopers say.
The accident happened around 8:45 a.m. in Harts.
Troopers say the worker was driving up a driveway when the truck got too close to the edge and rolled over. Investigators say that hillside had recently slipped away, taking a significant portion of the driveway with it.
According to troopers, the victim had been out checking meters prior to the accident. They say it appears one tire went off the side of the driveway that had slipped.
The woman who lives where the slip happened said she has reached out to multiple agencies since the slip happened in November, but she was told there's no funding available for repairs. She added that she has no income to fix the driveway herself because her husband died in October.
The victim's name hasn't been released at this time. Keep checking the WSAZ App and WSAZ.com for the latest information.
