Police investigating couple's deaths as murder-suicide

A murder-suicide investigation is underway after police found a husband and wife dead inside their home.

Police say James and Rhonda Mckeny, both 58 years old, were found dead in their South Point home Monday evening.

South Point Police Chief Chris Mahjer says officers were called out to do a well-being check after family and friends couldn't make contact with the the couple.

The house is in the 300 block of 3rd St. West in South Point.

After officers spoke with a neighbor, friend and the local pastor, they decided to enter the home.

The husband and wife were dead from apparent gunshot wounds according to police.

Based on the information they have so far, police believe this was a murder-suicide with James as the "aggressor."
