Salt Rock Elementary closed due to water main break

Dozens of water customers are experiencing water issues or are without water completely after a water main busted.

The pipe busted at the intersection of Sharps Branch Road and McComas Road in Salt Rock.

Salt Rock Elementary school will be closed on Monday due to the break.

Water officials say the repair is difficult because the burst pipe is underneath a 12 foot culvert.

Those in the surrounding area are currently under a boil water advisory.

Water officials say that a supplemental feed is back in service in the meantime and is allowing some to have water again but with lower pressure than normal.

Officials say it could take a couple days to get get the water back to it's normal pressure.

A water tanker will be at Salt Rock Fire Department to offer water to those affected while repairs are still taking place.
