Middle school gym teacher gets one year probation

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A Cabell County teacher indicted on sexual abuse charges that stem from incidents that happened while he was an employee at Barboursville Middle School was sentenced to probation on Thursday.

Daniel Miles entered a kennedy plea on Wednesday to a misdemeanor count of child abuse creating risk of injury.

Miles received a sentenced of six months in jail, but on Thursday the judge suspended that sentenced and put him on one year probation.

The alleged incidents happened from August 2019 through January 2022 and involved multiple students.

Miles was placed on administrative leave by Cabell County Schools in January 2022.
