GHENT, W.Va. (WVVA) - An officer-involved shooting in Ghent has left one man hospitalized.

Capt. Leslie T. Goldie with the West Virginia State Police said the incident started when a male was reported acting suspicious going through the turnpike toll booth near Ghent.

The same person later stopped at the Subway in Ghent and was again acting suspicious and another call to police was made.

Goldie said a State Trooper responded to the Subway and saw that the man had a handgun and was subsequently shot by the Trooper. No details of that encounter have been released.

The man was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center for treatment but his condition is not known at this time.

WVVA will bring more information when it becomes available.
