HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -The warmth of October has been joined by the dryness of the season. Our lawns and landscapes are flourishing with soil temperatures still near 60 degrees. No wonder roses are in full bloom, our lawns are plush and the need to heat our homes is minimal even at night. It’s part of the abnormal warmth that will roll into November.

As for rainfall, we are now 9 days and counting with no measurable precipitation. We look to stay rain-free through Halloween! Great news for the kids “trick or treating” Saturday night. There are signs that some welcomed southern moisture will arrive in the Sunday thru Tuesday time period. Two of those 3 days will see some rain, but the timing of the rain is what is debatable. Sunday is the Marshall Marathon day and next Tuesday is election day. So timing and placing rain and how it may impact those events will be a task to be fine-tuned.

Before then, highs in the 70s and lows 45-50 will be more typical of mid-spring and early October as opposed to November which starts on Sunday.
